Throne of Enlightenment. This is an image of Shakyamuni Buddha in the vajra posture. Buddha is seated on a moon disc placed on a multicolored lotus, which in turn rests on a white lion throne. The Snow lion throne is formed by an ornate square pedestal supported on each of its four corners by a pair of snow lions. The golden Garuda stands at the very top gripping the tails of the nagas with its talons. The nagas hold up a snake which he devours with arms outstretched. The background of the throne is ornamented with flowers, leaves, fruits, rainbows, colored clouds, strings of pearls, jewels and the six perfection's: Gurana, Sarana, Bharana, Surana, Varana and Kurana. | |||
