Henna Application..

How to do Henna Recipe
Our henna arrives pre-sifted, but I like to re-sift the henna
powder though two layers of nylon stretched over a jar to
extract any large particles, as a practice. Then mix the henna
powder with strong coffee or black tea, add some lemon juice
and let sit for 2-4 hours in a warm location. Lastly I mix Mehndi oil or
Aromatherapy grade essential oil, recommended oils:
Tea tree, Lavender,  Geranium, Cardamom, Cypress, Eucalyptus oil
and the mixture is ready to apply.
The henna paste should have the
constancy of tooth paste.

Henna Mixture
25 grams henna powder,
3 milliliters of mehndi oil,
2 - 4 teaspoons of lemon juice,
Add coffee or black tea a little at a time.

If you like your henna stringy,
add 1 teaspoon of sugar to the mixture.

Applicator
There are several methods; Tooth picks or sharp pencils are
often used to apply henna. The premixed henna paste such as
Jani Kone has a plastic applicator tip enclosed. You can make a
cone out of a plastic bag and making a small hole in the tip and
squeezing the henna paste into the desired design. Lastly you
may choose to use Jacquard bottles and stainless steel tips, they
can be purchased on this web site in sizes .5, .7 and .9mm.
If you are not comfortable about free hand designs you can use
adhesive stencils.

Tips and Tricks
Apply the henna paste on clean skin free of oils lotions.
A warm wet towel can be used to open the pores of
the skin, works great on shoulders and arms and other body parts.
I also use a spray bottle with a mixture of lemon juice and sugar,
and spray it on to keep the henna from cracking and falling off.

Lemon Spray Mixture
2 oz. of lemon juice,
3-4 tablespoons of sugar,
6 oz. of warm water to dissolve the sugar, shake well.

Lastly leave the henna on as long as possible, do not wash the
henna off (scrap it off with a butter knife) I like to apply more
henna oil with a cotton ball afterwards, it helps the henna to
absorb into the skin. Do not wash the tattooed area for
the next 4-6 hours, this will give you maximum results.
Happy Designs :)

When using the pre-mixed henna paste it is recommended
that you mix it up in the tube,
as the paste may settle and separate.
