A. Vogel's Urticalcin is a homeopathic formulation, which promotes the body’s ability to absorb, assimilate and properly use calcium in the body.
Today’s lifestyle of refined foods, chronic stress, excess caffeine and lack of exercise predisposes many women to a deficiency of calcium. The most obvious sign of long-term calcium deficiencies results in osteoporosis. There are a number of factors associated with the development of osteoporosis.

They include:

1. Digestive problems
2. Lack of calcium-rich foods in the diet
3. The consumption of too many foods/drinks, excess protein, excess salt, sugar, soft drinks, coffee and refined grains
4. A lack of Vitamin D and/or other bone enhancing nutrients
5. A sedentary lifestyle
6. Certain medications

The absorption of calcium is a first step to ensuring adequate calcium levels in the body. The second is to ensure that the body properly assimilates the calcium. This is where the Urticalcin formula (Silicea and Urtica dioica) will assist calcium not to deposit itself where it is not wanted.
 
Urticalcin is a safe, effective homeopathic formulation for women of all ages, with no known side effects.

Urticalcin:

Composition:

Each tablet contains:
Calcarea carbonica 4 X 0,5 mg
Calcarea phosphorica 6 X 0,5 mg
Natrum phosphoricum 6 X 0,5 mg
Silicea 6 X 2,5 mg
Urtica dioica 1 X 10,0 mg
Other ingredients: lactose, magnesium stearate, starch.

Dosage:

Adults and children over 6 years of age: place 2 tablets under the tongue, 3 times daily, 15 minutes before meals. Allow to slowly dissolve in the mouth.
Children 2-6 years of age: give half the adult dose.
 
Historical overview:

Demineralization is a common problem. It is the result of different living conditions and habits: stress, inadequate diet, alcohol, high-sugar diet, rapid growth, pregnancy, nursing, etc. These factors influence the body’s ability to assimilate minerals. In these conditions, demineralization may occur even in the presence of sufficient quantities of minerals.

Urticalcin® is designed to help the body assimilate minerals. It promotes their absorption, their metabolism and their proper usage. It is therefore indicated for all conditions that may gain from a remineralizing agent: arthritis and rheumatism, growing pains, brittle hair and nails, fatigue and insomnia, convalescence, pregnancy, etc.

Actions and pharmacology:

Calcarea carbonica (calcium carbonate) 4 X
Calcium carbonate is obtained from pulverized oyster shells. In homeopathy, oyster calcium is known as a stimulant of the periosteum (a membrane covering the bone and involved in bone regeneration and growth). It is also useful for mental and physical exhaustion, calcium metabolism disorders and delayed dentition.

Calcarea phosphorica (calcium phosphate) 6 X
In homeopathic dilution, calcium phosphate is recommended for delayed dentition, prevention of tooth decay, fragile bones and delayed healing of fractured bones. Calcarea phosphorica is particularly effective for the « phosphoric » person: tall, skinny, demineralized, with a rapid growth (with fragile bones and growing pains) and with poor stamina.

Natrum phosphoricum (sodium phosphate) 6 X
Natrum phosphoricum supports the physiological processes and promotes overall well-being. It is recommended for gastric as well as muscle (lactic acid pains) acidity. It relieves cracking joints and rheumatism in the knees. Natrum phosphoricum is typically effective for the person sensitive to cold and whose sleep is agitated.

Silicea (silica) 6 X
Silicea promotes mineral assimilation. It therefore helps to relieve demineralization-related problems such as: fatigue, exhaustion, neurasthenia, bone disease, brittle hair and nails, tooth decay, thinness, sensitivity to cold, etc. It is also recommended for vaccine complications, chronic suppurations and in the presence of swollen lymph nodes.

Urtica dioica (Stinging Nettle) 1 X
Stinging Nettle is a member of the Urticacae family and is found in all temperate climates around the world.
Part used: whole fresh herb.

Stinging Nettle is known to be a reconstructive agent for the body (see the Stinging Nettle information sheet). Its high mineral content (especially silica, iron and calcium) makes it invaluable for convalescence, anemia, rapid growth, etc. Urtica dioica reinforces and supports the whole body. In low homeopathic dilution, Urtica stimulates the body to better absorb and incorporate the minerals found in food.
 
Scientific Studies:

In 1991, 6,078 Urticalcin® users filled out a questionnaire to evaluate Urticalcin®’s effectiveness. The survey’s sample covered all age groups, from less than 10 to more than 90 years old.

The table below shows the percentage of users evaluating Urticalcin®’s effectiveness as good or very good for the following indications:
 

Average level of effectiveness: 83.5%

The authors concluded: « Urticalcin® is a remedy with a very good global effectiveness for people of all ages. Moreover, it is important to note that all the users showed a very good tolerance for the product. In short, Urticalcin® is both safe and effective. »

Precautions, contraindications and interactions
There are no known interactions with homeopathic products.
Contraindication: known allergy to one of the ingredients.
