Historical overview Despite its name, Jerusalem Artichoke is neither artichoke nor from Jerusalem. Scientific studies A double-blind study was conducted on Helianthus tuberosus over a period of 12 weeks. In 166 patients following the same diet, 85 were given a placebo and 81 Helianthus tuberosus. The average weight loss, after 12 weeks, was 7.1 kg for the treated group and 4.7 kg for the placebo group (P<0.005), proving that Helianthus tuberosus has a significant effect on weight loss.
